I got contacts for the first time in 8th grade because after 5 years of wearing them and being that geeky kid, I was sick of glasses. I wore only contacts for most of high school and most of undergrad - only wearing my glasses briefly before I went to bed each night. Not until my senior year of college and my beginning years of law school did I come to appreciate a good pair of glasses - glasses can be stylish and functional if you have the right pair! Plus I find it's nice to give my eyes a break from contacts every once in a while.
I've had a lot of great pairs of glasses in the last few years, but I do wish that I had more pairs so I could truly accessorize with them. It's too bad that glasses are so expensive! So when I got an email from Firmoo asking if I would review a pair of their glasses, I was super excited. I chose these, and I couldn't wait to try them on when they came!
Overall, the frames are a bit bigger than I'm used to wearing but I like them! I like that they're so different from my other glasses so that I really can change up my look now by wearing different frames. Plus these are bigger and rounder than I'm used to...so they're probably as close to Harry Potter glasses as I'm ever going to get. Given the choice between hipster glasses and Harry Potter glasses...I'm always going to think of them as my HP frames :)
If you're in the market for new glasses, I'd suggest checking out Firmoo. You can get your first pair for just the cost of shipping with their first pair free program (what's better than free??) and you can also try the frames on virtually if you like. And to all you other bloggers out there - if you get an email from Firmoo and you wear glasses, I would definitely recommend their blog partnerships!

I have a pair of simple square black frames that I love and I just recently got some square bronze metal frames that I don't love as much. This was the first year ever that my prescription didn't change when I went to the eye doctor and I've been wearing glasses since I was in first grade.
I'm mostly a contact girl... I even have the ones you wear overnight for a month at a time. They only come out one day a week.
I've had glasses since 2nd grade, and like you, without them, I cannot see more than two feet in front of my face. I got contacts in 11th grade, and I wear my glasses out in public very sparingly. One of my issues is that glass ARE so expensive! My lousy excuse for vision coverage only covers glasses OR contacts, and by covers, I mean gives me a pathetic "discount". I need special lenses so they are thin and not super-geeky thick, which is also expensive. In other words, I got a new pair of glasses sophomore year in college (2003), and just got a new pair two years ago. My prescription changed every year then. Needless to say, I wasn't seeing very well! haha
Those are super cute on you! I'll be keeping an eye out for communications from Firmoo!
OOO ... place to get cheap glasses. My biggest problem when I pick out new frames is having about 12 pairs I want since I feel like they are such a fashion statement and identity. They are super cool I wish I could pull something like those off!
